Couple Therapy and Marriage Counseling
At MN Couple Therapy Center, we specialize in couple therapy and marriage counseling and often see more couples in a week than many therapists see in a month.
We understand that when our most intimate relationships are not working well, it can be very painful. Many couples find themselves having the same arguments over and over, and seem unable to get out of these patterns. One or both of the partners start to feel disconnected, hurt, lonely, even depressed and anxious. Sometimes the distress is so great couples will talk about ending their relationship. Couple therapy is a specific therapeutic approach designed to help couples resolve distress caused by relational difficulties.
Our approach to working with couples is called Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). It’s an "experiential" approach, meaning the therapist helps the couple connect in new, meaningful ways during the therapy session. When this happens and each feels like they really matter to the other, they can feel healthier as individuals and as a couple, and work together to solve issues.
Emotionally Focused Therapy is based on research that shows especially good results. In the research, EFT helped 90% of couples improve and 70-73% feel more satisfied in their relationship. Even better — these changes lasted after therapy ended.
Our therapists see couples from all walks of life, ages, races, cultural backgrounds, and sexual orientations. We would be happy to answer any questions and welcome you into our practice.
