Bev Stratton, MA, LPC, ThD
Whether you are considering your calling, feeling lonely, sad, or anxious, wrestling with spiritual questions or perfectionism, negotiating stressful family or work situations, adjusting to a diagnosis, grieving a loss, sorting out your identity, managing a mental health condition, recovering from trauma, discerning next steps, or trying to strengthen a marriage or relationship--we can collaborate to help you not just survive, but thrive.
During my previous career as a college professor, one of my students told me "Your goal is to help us lead lives that matter." Now as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) seeing individuals and couples, helping you thrive is what I do —by connecting and walking with you as you ponder, feel, and reshape your life.
I provide individual and couple therapy for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. I assist couples in preparing for marriage, enriching your relationship, or discerning how to move forward if you or your partner is considering divorce. I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help couples understand and change destructive cycles, heal ruptures, increase trust, and deepen emotional bonds in your relationship. I have co-facilitated Hold Me Tight™ workshops several times with my colleague, Bryan Kingsriter.
I have an MA in Counseling and Psychological Services from Saint Mary's University and a Doctorate in Theology from Luther Seminary. Since coming to the MN Couple Therapy Center in 2015, I have provided therapy for more than 120 couples and numerous individuals. I have advanced training in couple therapy, and I am working toward certification in EFT. I regularly seek continuing education for helping people who have experienced trauma.
My past experience includes crisis and suicide intervention phone counseling, providing individual therapy at a college counseling center, and more than 30 years working with college students of varied ages, sexual orientations, gender identities, socioeconomic classes, races, ethnicities, and religious backgrounds.
Insurance and Fees
I am in-network for BCBS, Medica, Optum, UCare, and United Behavioral Health, and I can bill other insurance providers (Aetna, Preferred One, MHCP/MA) under my supervisor, Dr. Wical, or perhaps through out-of-network benefits. I have a sliding fee scale for clients who prefer not to use insurance. I see clients Monday through Friday. If you need an evening appointment, contact me directly about getting on my wait list.
